Our Review

WHEN I NEED YOU is a sports romance and the fourth book in the NEED YOU SERIES. Since this is the first book in the series that I’ve read, I will read the first three to get the backstories on the Lund siblings and their loves. I look forward to reading WHAT YOU NEED, JUST WHAT I NEEDED and ALL YOU NEED as well as many more of Lorelie James’ books since I’ve missed most of them along the way.

This is Jensen Lund and Rowan Michaels’ story, and what a story it is. He’s a pro football player hoping to get off the injured reserved list, and she’s a cheerleader for his team as well as an instructor and a trainer and has a six year old son. They don’t start off on the right foot when first meeting, and there’s definitely a story there. As they become friends and then some, we get to really know them as well as her son. There is a depth to them that most people miss, and watching their interactions, we get to see beneath the surface. Their emotions are engaged as were mine.

There are multiple story lines, and they all fit together smoothly. Family is a strong tie, as well as the business of football and community. The Lund family business plays a large part in the story. There is some closure, but an epilogue would have been nice, especially since the story ended a little abruptly and I’m not sure if this is the end of the series. (There are many cousins who need their own stories told – hint, hint.)

Lorelei James pens a wonderful sports romance with WHEN I NEED YOU that is more emotional than erotic, which I liked. This is a story not to be missed.
