Our Review

THE PARIS WEDDING was so descriptive of Paris and the small town in Australia where Rachael, Matthew, and Sammy grew up that one can easily feel the pull of Paris along with the romance and love of the City of Lights. This story kept me turning the pages far into the night.

THE PARIS WEDDING wasn’t anything like I expected. Set in Paris and Australia, which are vastly different, Rachael fits in better than I expected. Going to Paris on an all expenses paid holiday with others from her town, Rachel is there to watch her high school sweetheart marry someone else. This is a very emotional journey, especially since they broke up ten years before, after he went off to medical school and she stayed on her family’s farm while nursing her mother through a debilitating illness.

Rachel’s ex is marrying into a very wealthy family, and his bride-to-be is philanthropic and successful in her own right. Watching the festivities leading up to the wedding unfold are fun yet heartbreaking for Rachael, especially when Matthew starts throwing out mixed signals. Although Rachael is everyone’s favorite in Paris, due to her generosity of always being willing to help, things don’t turn out the way she expects.  Add in her best friend with love problems of her own, and a sexy, hot photographer that Rachael has immediate chemistry with and things get a little sticky.

The story is filled with family and friends, regrets and heartache, and romance and love. There are a lot of twists and turns, but each adds another layer. Some of the scenarios surrounding Rachael seemed a little out there and hard to swallow. The story does have some closure but some loose ends too.

This is the first book that I’ve read by Ms. Nash, but I look forward to reading more of her novels.
