Our Review

THE MATCHMAKER’S LIST is a lively, bright, unique story of a lovely Indian girl, Raina Anand, who is on a quest to find a hubby, quick, before her biological clock winds down according to her loving, overly-doting grandma, Nani. Alas, Nani has provided Raina with a list of preapproved, appropriate men for Raina to meet and hopefully marry. Horrible and humorous blind dates ensue, and Raina feels trapped. Then, not surprisingly, Nani and Raina butt heads. Since Raina feels smothered, she breaks free from her tight-knit Indian community by an out-of-the-blue announcement. Everything changes but one thing remains clear, Raina’s love for her Nani. Raina’s family and friends intervene with well-intended comments and suggestions, but she is still miserable. Will Raina ever find a respectable man? Is there a shiny, silver lining at the end?

THE MATCHMAKER’S LIST is romantic comedy at its best, with a pretty girl, Raina, looking for love in all the wrong places. Quirky, fast-paced, and genuinely funny, the crazy dating scenarios had me laughing out loud! The author delivers an honest portrayal of a day in the life of an Indian girl walking on the edge of right versus wrong in an Indian community and the pitfalls of breaking the rules. The combination of likable characters, gossiping neighbors, spiced with unpredictable circumstances will melt your heart as a young girl navigates life and all the negative family stuff that gets in the way. Ms. Lalli tells the complete truth about romance, falling in love and a unique view of Indian customs. I absolutely loved it! Don’t miss this engaging, uplifting story, THE MATCHMAKER’S LIST. It is refreshing like a mint julep on a warm summer’s day!
