THE LADY OF GALWAY MANOR by Jennifer Deibel is a historical romance set in the early 1920s. The author gives the reader insight into both the interaction of the Irish and the English people involved with Ireland’s rebelling against English rule. The romance is set around the legend of the Claddagh and the family who design and sell the jewelry. There are wonderful descriptions of the Irish people, the town and the surrounding area showing how the people live, and the amazing designs of Claddagh jewelry created. The resentment between the Irish and the British is depicted in the romance of a young lady from an English family whose father has been sent to govern the territory and a young man who is involved with his father in designing and selling the jewelry. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. There’s so much going on—from an apprenticeship to the jeweler, to a marriage proposal to save the lord’s family, to a terrible storm, to a fire at the Lord’s mansion and more.
