Our Review

Erica Bloom and her friends who live in Otter Lake, New Hampshire, are at a Great Gatsby-themed gala. Dressed as a flapper, Erica is determined to have a great night. Her ex-boyfriend Sheriff Grady Forrester and his new girlfriend are present, but Erica means to ignore them.

When someone tries to poison Grady’s girlfriend’s drink with anti-freeze, the night takes on a different twist. The sheriff is the prime suspect, but Erica doesn’t agree so her job is to find the real culprit.

The night gets weird with all the plot twists that unfold. The story shifts from the present to the next morning, when Erica and her friend Freddie wake up surprised to be in a bed together, in one of the many rooms of the mansion where the party took place. Then they wrack their brains, trying to remember the events of the night before.

It is a funny, wacky tale of New Year’s Eve and the people who come to the mansion for the party. Strange events take place to keep you turning the pages to find out who is guilty of attempted murder. A first time read by this author but enjoyable.
