Our Review

Lane Driscoll is in serious trouble. She’s heard a voice in her head since she was very young and is having horrible nightmares about a man attacking her. She wonders if she’s going crazy. However, when walking to work, she encounters the man from her dreams who tries to attack her. Frightened for her life, she leaves her parents and her hometown and ends up in Mystic River to begin a new life, hoping the police will find the madman so she can return someday.

Jonas Sterling is shopping for a gift for a family member when he spies the woman who broke his heart years ago. What is she doing in his hometown? He’s angry and confronts her, yet she pretends she not to know him! It doesn’t take long before he realizes she’s not his former girlfriend, Veneta, but she is an exact duplicate of the woman he once loved.

After some sleuthing, Jonas believes he knows why Lane and his ex-girlfriend look so much alike. He tries to find Veneta but discovers she’s missing. Lane starts to believe the voice in her head is Veneta crying out for help. Is this possible? Lane and Jonas decide they need to find out, which begins a dangerous journey to find the truth and save a life.

Catherine Anderson is a wonderful writer, and I thoroughly enjoyed the mystery surrounding Lane. MAPLE LEAF HARVEST is a wonderful and unusual story that kept me glued to the pages until the very end.
