Our Review

BE MY SANTA TONIGHT is the first book in the CROOKED HALO CHRISTMAS CHRONICLES series. It’s followed by an excerpt of the second book, HER CHRISTMAS WISH, that left me wanting more. This is a quick read at just under one hundred pages and has a nice flow, set both on earth in small town Conspiracy, California and in heaven.

This is Liam and Holly’s story, along with angels Aurora, Olivia, and Zack. The story and small town are quirky but endearing. The story is reminiscent of Christmas books by Debbie Macomber, with her three angels getting into mischief, granting wishes, and offering love.

Liam and Holly have a hard time communicating other than as friends, but Holly wants a whole lot more. Liam has one broken engagement and feels he’s better off alone with his research and studies. Holly’s had a crush on him forever but knows it will go nowhere.

I loved how Olivia and Zack went between heaven and earth by grabbing stars and how they themselves mimicked what they wanted Liam and Holly to feel. The characters had some depth to them, but this is a short story, and mainly what you see is what you get.

There’s a happily ever after and some loose ends which seem like they’ll get picked up in the next book in the series. I can read Christmas stories at any time of year, and this book definitely satisfied. I loved the colors and how festive the cover is.

I’ve previously read the FALLING IN LOVE series by Ms. Coatney and enjoyed them. I look forward to reading more of her books.
