Christmas is just around the corner and romance novelists Samantha Chase, Kim Redford and Terry Spear are here to help get you in the holiday spirit by sharing the best gift they (and their characters) have ever received.
Samantha Chase (The Christmas Cottage/Ever After):
It’s actually kind of silly, but I remember the year my grandmother bought me an album. Yes, back at the time there were still vinyl albums out there! She went to Sam Goody (the big record story chain) and bought me Bon Jovi’s “Slippery When Wet”. When she told me story about how she got it, it just made the gift mean so much more – There she was, a woman in her seventies, in Sam Goody’s. A salesperson came over to her and noticed her confusion and asked if she needed help. She was a little embarrassed because she hadn’t written down the name of the album or the band so she had to wing it from memory. So she told the guy “I need the record from Bon Giovanni. Something about a storm.” I LOVED that she stepped out of her comfort zone to get me something that my little 17-year old heart wanted. She was the best!
As for my heroine, Lacey’s a very practical woman with her feet firmly planted on the ground – always has been. She tends to ask for gifts that aren’t frivolous and will serve a purpose. So the best gift she ever received was computer software for her interior decorating job – courtesy of her parents. As much as she loves drawing out her designs, she loves the technology and ease of the software.
Kim Redford (A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas):
A gathering and sharing of family is always the very best gift for the holidays. As for my characters, my hero Trey gives the heroine, Misty, an adorable kitten and an engagement ring for their first Christmas together.
Terry Spear (A Silver Wolf Christmas):
All of my family, my son and daughter and son-in-law, getting to spend the holidays with me last year. We get to do so again this year. My son is in the AF and for several years, he’s had missions in Afghanistan over the Christmas holidays through spring. So nothing else mattered, but having the whole family together.
For my hero and heroine: It’s being together, loving each other, being part of the Silver wolf pack. The hero had left the pack with his brothers some time earlier, and the heroine has only had her two sisters as part of their small pack. So like for me and my small family, her family is small. But now she’s part of a much larger pack, and he’s home again too.

New York Times and USA Today bestseller Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan’s Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her forties to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Teaching creative writing to students from elementary through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams motivated Samantha to take that step as well.
