I wake up at 6 a.m.,
if I'm able, to get ready for work. I fix my hair and throw on some
makeup and clothes. By 6:30, I hop into my Hyundai Tucson and drive
to Lake Charles for 7:00 a.m.. I spend the next eight and a half
hours at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development,
where I sit in front of a my computer workstation and work on excel
programs, Microstation drafting programs, and word programs to meet
deadline dates for road plans and proposals. By 3:30, I'm on my
way home. I jump back on my laptop as soon as I get here to check
email, update my Facebook status, check blogs, book sales, etc.
If I don't have to cook that night, I jump right into writing or
re-writing whatever I'm working on. Around five o'clock, I can count
on my front door opening to the sound of little feet and at least
one of my granddaughters calling out to me. One, or both, of my
twin daughters will come in with a few of my grandchildren and spend
the next hour or so visiting with me while eating the snacks their
Paw Paw Mike has stuffed inside the snack drawer. After they leave,
I can usually find time to get at least an hour or two or writing
time in. I try to get to bed around 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. to start
all over again the next morning. Do you have any idea how ready
I am for weekends come Friday afternoon?
