Linda uses her former careers in hospital administration,
and teaching as background for her many stories. Born in Connecticut
and raised in Vermont, Ms. Bilodeau thought she was going to
be a lifelong New Englander until she met her husband, Dr. Richard
Bilodeau. The couple lived in Indiana but now are full time
residents on the west coast of Florida.
Over the years, Linda wrote and published a variety of nonfiction
articles for The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, The Champlain
Business Journal, and did projects for clients as a freelance
marketing consultant.
Linda now devotes all her time to writing fiction. The Olive
Branch-A Tale of Resistance was her first novel and her second
is titled, Stepping Through Seagrass. Upcoming titles include:
The Wine Seekers (due out in the spring of 2008) and One Step
Back, a sequel to Stepping Through Seagrass.
In November, 2005, Linda received an Honorable Mention in the
Writers Digest 74th Annual Writing Competition for her
short story, Impossible. It was one of 18,000 entries. The story
is based on how she met her husband 15 years ago.
When not writing, Linda loves to visit with her daughter, Laura
and her son, Jeff. She enjoys cooking gourmet meals for family
and friends, and improving her knowledge of wine.

I enjoyed Stepping Through Seagrass thoroughly
and really couldn't put it down. Kate was an intriguing personality
and you truly captured the complex struggles she faced. The
characters were so personally described, I could feel their
presence.--Linda J. Lerner

A
bout with alcoholism has just cost Dr. Kate Anderson her
medical practice, her comfortable lifestyle, and her confidence.
After a year in recovery she accepts a job for the Public
Health Service in rural Immokalee, Florida as the only
physician to Seminole Indians, migrant farm workers, and
drug addicts.
Haunted
by dreams of a long repressed childhood incident, coupled
with the raw pain of the loss that sent her spiraling
out of control, it would be easy to curl up into the bottom
of a vodka bottle and drown. The temptation is always
there.
But
her patients need her, depend on her. And being a doctor
is more than just a job, it is her lifes calling.
As
Kate fights her demons, both old and new, she knows failure
will cost her everything. Like stepping through seagrass
in the Everglades, one misstep will spend her sinking
into the ooze.
There
won't be a second chance.

book that will stay in my heart forever. I am looking forward
to reading more of your books in the future."--Reviewed

Thoughts On Writing
The decision to change fields from teaching to writing
was one of the hardest I have ever had to make. But,
now that I'm entrenched writing had become one of the
most rewarding. I've managed to incorporate the fun
I had teaching students and doing research into my writing
career. Though writing requires one to work alone, I'm
finding the times when a book club invites me to lunch
or when a local libriarian calls to ask me to give a
lecture truly a great break from my day to day tasks.
It's turing out to be the best of all worlds. I've enjoyed
meeting wonderful people, making new friends and satisfying
the curiosity I have for life long learning.. I particularly
love the days when I don't have to worry if I combed
my hair or put on makeup. My office is right off my
bedroom so I can just hope out of bed, grab a cup of
coffe and get going on my latest idea. This has truly
become a great time in my life.

Q: How do you describe
Linda Bilodeau? How does Linda Bilodeau's husband describe
her?
Like most writers, I am introverted
and therefore quite reserved around other people. However,
I spend a lot of time thinking and I'm very happy to
be by myself in my own little world. When I am around
my closest friends, I am a great listener according
to them. People seem to like sharing their innermost
secrets with me.
He says I'm a geek, too kind
for my own good, and his best friend in the whole world.

I'm a Christmas gal and I guess I get
that from my mom. Even with six children, she had a way
of making the month of December magical, starting with
dusting off the Bing Crosby records and then lining up
the Christmas decorations that had been stored away in
the attic. After looking things over, we would try to
remember where we had put each peice last year and then
hang six stockings all ready for Santa to fill. Next,
we'd pick a Sunday to go after a fresh tree and then spend
the next few days bringing to life with colored lights,
home made garland and lots of colored bulbs. After the
house was decorated, my sisters and I would start on the
fudge, cookies, and cakes that'd we have as part of our
Christmas eve and Christmas day dinner.
