As Cornelia Amiri, I write Celitc/Paranormal/Romance books or as I also like to say, tales of long swords, hot heroes, and warrior women. I love the ancient Celts and I am inspired and fascinated by the culture and the mist and magic of Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. For instance in Celtic mythology all the gods and goddesses had animal shapes they shifted into. Shapeshifting was never seen as a curse to the Celts, like it was in the old werewolf movies and stories. I never believed the curse part, I thought turning into a wolf was the best and most interesting thing that happened to the characters in the werewolf stories. I never thought it would be a curse to be able to shapeshift, it seemed pretty fantastic to me. I also see seductive blood suckers as being more feminine than masculine, but in the old vampire movies and stories they are mainly men. Yet the Celtic fey vampiric creatures are all women, which again, makes more sense to me. I find the paranormal beliefs in Celtic mythology to be interesting and inspiring.

The heroine, Druidess Tanwen, grew up as a child or war, and is determined to halt the Roman conquest, now spreading to the north of Caledonia. The Roman Governor, Suetonius annihilated her mother's tribe, the Iceni, and the Roman Governor, Agricola exterminated her father's tribe, the Ordovices. She watched her brother die in the second massacre at the Druid learning Center. Tanwen managed to escape with the help of two elderly druids, who had survived the first massacre. She must now leave them, the only family she has left, and travel from her home of Britannia to Caledonia, to wed a wild Pict, the son of the chief of the Caledonii tribe. The spirit of her ancestor, her grandmother, Boudica, has sent her on this quest. The ghost of the rebel queen foretold this marriage will aid the Celts in the war against Rome and also keep Boudica's bloodline alive. But the hero, Brude, son of the chief of the Caledonii, is not ready to marry. And he swears he will never marry a druidess. How will she persuade him?

Describe the "perfect" hero? What about the "perfect" hero for you?

Cornelia: The perfect hero has leadership skills such as the ability to motivate other people, he cares about and protects and helps others, he should be charismatic, handsome, charming, worthy, and honorable. As for the perfect hero for me, I think all the above is a pretty good package. I'll take that.

Spring is my favorite time of year. It’s not too hot, it’s not too cold. The sky is such a beautiful blue and trees are full of crisp green leaves and colorful flowers. Lovely sights, lovely smells. It is also such a sensual season, birds and the bees are busy mating and love is in the air for people as well. Women wear fresh and pretty pastels and flowery prints. My favorite month in Spring is May. I always associate it with the sweet delicious taste of strawberries and strawberry shortcake, one of the most delectable foods ever created. For the Celts it’s wonderful because May Day of Beltane was one of the main Celtic Fire Festivals and also one of the most interesting. I just love everything about the month of May and it’s also the month I was born in. I love that too.
