Barbara M. Hodges developed a love for words at an early age, the seeds planted by a mother who read to her from as far back as she can remember. She lives in Nipomo, California and shares her life with her husband Jeff, two basset hounds and a sassy cat.

Barbara has been published in both fiction and non-fiction, and her first novel, The Blue Flame, was a finalist in the Independent eBook Awards.

Her other fiction novels include, The Sword and The Flame, co-authored with C.R. MacPhadrick, The Emerald Dagger, The Silver Angel due for release February 2005 and Stargazer's Children, an anthology co-written with Maggie Pucillo and Jennifer des` Plantes, set for release May 2005.

"THE SILVER ANGEL by Barbara Hodges is book three in the DARADOWN series, and will enchant all who read it. Ms. Hodges has once again created beguiling creatures, strong characters, and an imaginative tale that is so unique in its creativity no one will be disappointed! For those readers who are not familiar with the series, and want to see how it all began, you will want to read THE BLUE FLAME and the EMERALD DAGGER, the first two books in the DARADOWN series." - Romance Junkies

What are dear to my heart are basset hounds

I love the breed and especially the three that have shared my life. Winston, who went to the Rainbow Bridge, two years ago, was my first. He was a gift for my 30th birthday. What a character he was. He stole my heart within thirty minutes of entering my life. One year later we added his son Sydney to our home. I walked Winston every morning at the park across the street One morning as we were coming home and man in a white pick-up stopped beside me and asked, ' if I wanted to put a smile on that basset's face?' Winston was scheduled to be altered the next morning, but we put it off for awhile and six months later Sydney joined us.

What a joy it was having the two of them. They made me laugh and they made me cry with frustration. We have a motorhome and they traveled everywhere with us. My husband Jeff and I are NASCAR fans and we've attended some local races, the boys were always a big hit.

At the age of almost 12, cancer stole Winston from me. It was with many tears that we let him quietly make his journey to the Rainbow Bridge. Whenever I walk in the park I still feel him close to me.

Sydney didn't do well being an only dog, so awhile later we added Ophelia to our family. She's the first female puppy we've ever had, and what a difference she is then the males we've had. Jeff and I never had children, so our hounds are our babies, and boy are they spoiled.

"A fast paced novel with danger, deceit, elves, dwarves, and dragons to contend with. Barbara Hodges does a wonderful job, putting her up there with the greats such as Christine Feehan, Dara Joy, and Ann Rice. This book is destined to become a classic! Do not pass up a chance to read it. A definite must for any collection. The best book, I highly recommend it. Definitely a 5 Blue Ribbon Book!?- Romancejunkies - Read full review

Well I have a host of writing books. The one I use most is The Writer's Digest Character Naming Sourcebook. As far as fiction you will find the newest Kathy Riechs book. I like to read on my Rocket reader and you will usually find at least one or two ebooks I am reading to do reviews on.

I love fall, the crispness in the air, the trees becoming pallets of orange and gold. Walking in the park, I enjoy kicking the leaves and watching the wind pick them up and dance away. I look forward to the first flames in the fireplace, snuggled up in warm sweaters and feeling the warmth of emotion as well as that of the fire. And there's Halloween, the challenge of carving jack o' lanterns that are a step beyond spooky faces. And the laughing and shy faces that beg for candy with shouts of, 'trick or treat.'
