The Lady Vanishes by Nicole Camden

Blurb

In LADY VANISHES, Milton Shaw, an eccentric software genius and billionaire, has a penchant for making things disappear. He meets his match in the very serious Dr. Regina Burke, who seems to have little patience for his antics at first. There’s no resisting Milton Shaw; however, especially when he works his magic.

Author Interview:

Please tell us a little bit about your current projects?

Hello, I’m delighted to join you. I’ve always been a romance junkie. Only reason I survived middle school. My current projects include finishing the last book in THE BILLIONAIRE TRICKSTERS of BOSTON series, a short story with a couple of characters from the series, and the first book in a new romantic suspense series under my other pen name, Deirdre Dore.

When was the moment that you knew you had to be a writer?

I remember it exactly, which is weird, but I was sitting in my second grade class and my teacher, Mrs. Hendricks (who was trained as a clown…completely irrelevant detail), told us that were we going to write a story based on the trail of tears. She kept talking, but I was already off in my own little world. The character and the story just popped into my head. I’ve never wanted to do anything else.

Who gave you the one piece of writing advice that sticks with you to this day?

No one in particular. All my teachers have helped me along the way. I think the two pieces of advice that I find most valuable are: 1) Write something every day (I’m bad at this) and 2) Read widely (this I do all the time).

Describe the “perfect” hero. What about the “perfect” hero for you?

I can’t. There’s no such thing. But for my characters, there is always someone who comes close. For me? Well, over the years that has changed, but I’m married now to a man who loves me very much and barely yelled at me when I crashed his brand new truck. So he’s pretty close.

What are some of your favorite pastimes? Do you have any hobbies or collections?

Too many. Honestly, I just finished a Master’s degree, work full time, and am about to have a son. Not to mention writing. Lol. I am crazy. When I have five minutes, I paint in acrylics, but that’s about it.

What has been your biggest adventure to date?

Prior to getting married and pregnant, my biggest adventure was in college. I studied abroad in Ireland with no money, questionable judgment, and a lifetime spent watching French Kiss and reading books set in Ireland by Nora Roberts. Real life is not as nice as Nora Roberts’s books. FYI.

If your fairy godmother waved her wand and whisked you away to the location of your choice, which place would you choose, and why?

Well, that depends. Is she paying the bills? Ok, I won’t be practical. Truthfully, I’m pregnant…like really pregnant, so right now I just to be somewhere warm near the water with people to wait on me and give me foot massages. It could be anywhere. I also miss New York, but pregnant and walking around New York wouldn’t mix.

When it comes to food, are you the adventurous type who will try anything once, or do you prefer to stick to tried and true foods and recipes?

There were five kids in my family, and my mom’s cooking was dubious at best. I eat just about anything.

What is this romance writer’s idea of the “ideal romantic evening”?

My ideal romantic evening involves food, wine, chocolate, lots of kisses, and a foot rub.

How do you describe yourself? How would your family and friends describe you?

I’d say I’m driven, quirky, and easily amused. My editor would say I’m a procrastinator. My family and friends would probably tell you that I’m weird and fairly funny.

What is your favorite comfort food?

Hmmm…bread and butter? Chocolate Ice cream? Cheesecake? Cheeseburgers? Seriously, I’m pregnant. Now I’m hungry.

What is your favorite season? What do you love about it?

I like warm 90% of the time. I like the fall for a few weeks so that I can wear tall boots. Luckily, I live in Houston, where this combo is totally doable. It’s like 70 degrees right now. In January. Awesome.

What is the one modern convenience that you cannot do without?

Modern convenience: Indoor plumbing. If there was a zombie apocalypse (Walking Dead rules!), I would miss running water.

What project are you working on next?

A romantic suspense as Deirdre Dore where the main character has an incredible sense of smell.

Any place we can find you in person or on the net this month or next?

Hmm..maybe? I always check my website and various social media. I think I have blog posts on XOXO and a couple other sites. As for in person, one of the downsides of ebooks is no book signings, but since I’m due in March, I doubt I’ll be getting out much. I hope to go to RWA in 2016, but that’s a ways off.

Thanks again for blogging with us!
