Author Gaelen Foley
Dear Annabelle,
I am in the most terrible situation and literally have nowhere else to turn. It’s really difficult for me to talk about my problem, so please, promise you’ll never reveal my identity.
You see, I have dedicated my whole existence to hiding an indiscretion in my past, one that could destroy me in Society. Now I’ve gone and fallen in love with an ex-spy, the very sort of man from whom it is impossible to keep secrets, at least for long, and at the moment, he actually trusts me. I know I must explain to him what happened if I want to keep his trust, but I live in pure dread of his reaction.
I love him so much. What if I lose him–now that somebody finally loves me? For an orphan like myself, you have no idea how much that means. Or what if he flies into one of his deadly, cold rages and goes hunting down that cad, my seducer? Of course, my spy is a far better warrior than that cad, but even a fool gets a lucky shot now and then. I’d simply die if something ever happened to Beau because of me.
Oh, I just wish all of this would go away, but of course I know it won’t, and I fear this secret will ruin everything between us. After being betrayed as an innocent, this is my one chance at happiness with a real man, not a boy–a true hero–but if I’m fallen and a liar, how could I ever deserve someone like him? I fear I’m doomed whatever I do. Help!
Wretchedly in love,
Anonymous.
(Carissa Portland, heroine of My Scandalous Viscount) by Gaelen Foley
Dear Anonymous,
You are not the first to write to me about a scandalous secret buried deep in the past. In fact, I received such a missive from none other than my rival for the affections of the man I love, Mr. Knightly. I struggled mightily over how to advise her, as well as how to reveal my own secret to Mr. Knightly.
My readers know me as a champion of true love and your case shall be no exception. I am also a champion of honesty and trust, thus I suggest you bare your heart and secrets. If I were the wagering kind (which I am decidedly not) I would wager that your Spy will uncover the news in time and would rather hear it from you. If he is, as you say, a true hero, this author is confident he will love you anyway!
Yours,
Annabelle from Seducing Mr. Knightly

Question: Have you ever kept a secret?
Meet the courageous men of the Inferno Club as they face their greatest challenge yet: marriage!
Sebastian, Viscount Beauchamp, lives by a code of honor, and now honor dictates he must marry Miss Carissa Portland. He has no regrets over stealing a kiss from the adorable little busybody—a fitting punishment for putting her delectable nose where it didn’t belong. But now, caught in a compromising situation, he knows he must make her his bride. He’s faced danger before—but nothing like this!
Carissa is not a gossip—she’s a “lady of information.” And all she was trying to do was warn the rakehell Beauchamp away from an irate husband. But even she can’t flaunt Society, and while her head tells her that Beau’s a notorious scoundrel, her heart—and her body—are captivated by his dangerous charm. But when Carissa next goes snooping, the secrets she uncovers about the Inferno Club may prove even more hazardous than falling in love with her own husband.

if I told you it wouldn’t be a secret
I think we all keep secrets of some sort or another and generally (like my own) they’re nothing too serious or mind blowing (though there would be – I hope – a good reason for keeping them if they were). I think the fear of secrets being learned & the aftermath of hurt feelings by those close to you, not necessarily because of the secret itself, but rather because you didn’t feel you could confide/share with them, can be far worse.

I have definitely kept some secrets but nothing very interesting.

Wow – love this post. Love the way you approached it.
Of course we’ve all kept secrets – sometimes to protect ourselves and sometimes to protect others. Can’t reveal them or they wouldn’t be secrets now would they?
Look forward to reading your new book.

Beautiful cover and this book is on my list of books-to-buy. Do I or have I kept secrets? Yes, my own and those of anyone who has told me a secret. I know how to keep my mouth shut! LOL
