~*~*~*~
I wrote Rescue My Heart last summer while surrounded by five teenage girls. Have you ever lived with five teenage girls? Oh, the drama. Oh, the estrogen. They were killing me. So I found myself going to extreme measures to cope. I needed testosterone. I need a big, bad, tough alpha hero to take my mind off my troubles.
Enter Adam Connelly, ex military and current Search and Rescue specialist. Dog Whisperer. Brother. Irritated, sexy, alpha hero who has no intentions of being a hero at all. He’s had it rough, our Adam. Raised in various foster care homes with his younger brother, the one he had to protect, he learned dubious skills best not used in polite company, skills that work for either career criminals or a military career. He was asked by a judge to choose the latter.
So now, in the present, he’s served multiple tours, and on the last one lost half his unit to enemy fire while trapped in a cave. Hello screwed up Alpha Male full of testosterone, welcome to my world.
The teenagers in my life did not make things easy on me. So in turn, I didn’t go easy on poor Adam. Since I was being tortured, I mirrored that torture in my book. I wondered what was the worst thing I could do to a man who isn’t exactly on the people train and is dealing with some PTSD… I decided it might be fun to force him back onto the people train.
Enter Adam’s arch nemesis, a blast from his past. A beautiful, pissed off woman who once upon a time had been the teenage love of his life – before he’d dumped her rather than bring her down with him. Adam is the last person Holly wants to see, and the only one who can help her.
Oh the fun I had losing myself in Adam’s and Holly’s battle ground. Hope you have fun reading RESCUE MY HEART. Let me know! You can reach me on my daily blog or Facebook. Happy Reading! Jill Shalvis, www.jillshalvis.com/blog, www.facebook.com/jillshalvis

Oh I love books with animals in them… they add another layer to a story that I enjoy. As for screwed up Alpha males… love to see them go on their journey to love and happiness… I am a sucker for HEAs. Thanks for sharing Jill!

I have loved all of your books so far. I do love animals brought into the story and a good military man with problems and a woman he wronged will just add to the mix.
I know what you mean by teenagers giving you angst. I had to move in with my daughter for a year after I was unemployed. I was delegated to share a bedroom with my 17 yo granddaughter and there was so much drama in her life. It was not easy for me to not put my two cents in when they were invading my space but my daughter wouldn’t hear of it. I love my granddaughter but not as a roommate. HA!
Glad you survived. Ready for another good book of yours.

I was very glad when I was done dealing with teenaged girls. The drama is amazing. Adam sounds like a great hero who has met his match.

Just stopping in to say that Adam is a great hero and I loved RESCUE MY HEART. Thanks for joining us here at RJ, Jill!
And thanks, Barbara for mentioning the pig story. I couldn’t resist reading it and oh my, Jill, that’s just so unexpected and yet so very funny! Next time I go hiking, I’ll be sure to look out for the pig.
