Thanks so much for having me on Romance Junkies! I’m Skye Warren, and for those of you don’t know me yet, I’m an author of erotic romance and dark erotica. My most popular books have been my Dark Erotica series, which have been Kindle Erotica bestsellers. Today I want to share with you my latest release in that series, Hear Me.
One of the ways I come up with ideas is to take a setup that I love to read a put a twist on it, like a hypothetical, a what-if. In this case, the setup is that a woman has been trained as a sex slave. Or more broadly, she has been abused.
I’m not exactly sure how common this trope is, but it’s definitely been done before. And it’s only natural for women to want to be strong, and for readers to want the heroines to be strong too. So faced with a horrible situation, we think: I would resist, I would fight, I would never break.
But what if you did?
Would that make you any less deserving of recovery, any less deserving of a hero and an HEA? I don’t think so, and that’s really the basis of the Dark Erotica series. Though it deals with very rough scenes, sometimes violent, sometimes appalling, the core of the story is about redemption. How a woman who has been broken can find her way back.
In Hear Me, the heroine is about as low as I can imagine. She has just escaped from the slave compound, naked and alone. She is cannot remember anything of her past, only her slave training. And to top it all off, she can’t speak.
Then she wakes up in a cabin, along with the man who had found her.
What if he was a good man who helped her heal, who grew to love her? What if he is a bad man, using her for his own purposes?
Such a powerful question encapsulated in two little words: what if?
If you’re interested in a dark, psychological thriller or an emotional erotic romance, I hope you’ll give Hear Me a try. So far, readers have called Hear Me “disturbingly arousing” with “a smart and eloquent literary quality that stands out from page one.”
Author: Skye Warren
Length: 32,000-word novella
Genre/Heat Level: Dark erotica
ISBN: 9780988363205
Blurb:
She doesn’t remember her past, only her training. She can’t talk, not that a good slave should speak out of turn. None of that matters when she wakes up in the warm, rustic room. Her new master is distant but kind. There’s only one problem: he doesn’t want her.
Longing for the shackles of safety, she pulls from the last dregs of her will to prove her worth as a slave. It seems to be working. He responds first to her body and next to her submission. The secrets of his past haunt the cabin, fraying the tightening bond between Master and slave, but it is her own memories that may finally unravel it.
This book contains a bonus short story Escape, set in the same dark erotica world.
WARNING:
This book contains explicit scenes of sex, including dubious consent and captivity situations. The BDSM does not conform to literary conventions, making it sometimes more realistic, and other times not. This is a work of fiction not appropriate for anyone uncomfortable with these situations or anyone under the age of eighteen.

It sounds like a unique story. Characters who have had an awful time are interesting.
