BL Bonita: Ghosts of the Old West + Giveaway
Thank you Romance Junkies for having me here today!
I think most of us are familiar with Tombstone thanks to the movie starring Val Kilmer, Kurt Russel, Bill Paxton and Sam Elliot (among others). With such a high-caliber cast and an unforgettable retelling of the shootout at the OK Corral, many of us who may not have been aware of the story before were suddenly sitting up and taking notice. Of course, it helps that those actors are damn sexy. *g*
Tombstone wasn’t the only movie portraying the legend of Wyatt Earp and the OK Corral, but to me it’s the most memorable.
The shootout at the OK Corral and the legend of Wyatt Earp made the town famous, and today much of the streets look the same as it did way back then when arguments were settled with pistol slinging cowboys, outlaws and gamblers!
But, did you know that present day Tombstone is known to have spirits walking the streets? There are reports of a man in a long black frock coat near the scene where Virgil Earp was ambushed, leading many to believe the ghost is Virgil himself guarding the street. A woman in a long white dress has also been seen. The tale claims that she was the madam of a brothel who was hanged and now walks the streets in search of her executioners.
Tombstone lost many towns people, not only from gunfights, but from fire. Over 40 men lost their lives from two fires in crowded saloons and brothels that burned to the ground. People have reported smelling smoke for no explainable reason, and seeing ghosts with burns walking the streets.
Do you believe in ghosts? Do you have your own ghost story to tell? Comment below to enter the contest for a download of Dark Sun Rising. Entry deadline is October 9 at midnight EST. Be sure to leave your email address with your comment.
Dark Sun Rising
His sin is the color of his skin. Her love is his salvation…and the greatest danger.
Life in a mountain town is hard for gently raised Charlotte Phillips, who has come to Hatchet Creek to help run her cousin’s emporium. When her cousin suddenly dies, she learns just how rough-and-tumble is the life of a business owner—especially when she steps in to stop the brutal whipping of a local colored man.
Avery Samms made the mistake of rejecting the advances of a married white woman, and he pays with the flesh on his back. With no doctor in town, he’s sure a slow agonizing death is his fate. Until a beautiful angel shocks everyone—especially Avery—by taking him home. Her heart may be in the right place, but now her business, even her very life, is in danger.
As Avery recovers, their connection grows stronger every day. There’s passion in her eyes, and purity in her heart that heals soul-deep wounds no one can see. One moment of irresistible desire bonds them in forbidden love.
Even as they plan to escape to a far-off haven, jealousy and revenge threaten to rip their world apart. Under a savage western sun, they must fight for their love…and their very lives.

Thank you for dropping by Maria! I’m not sure if I believe in ghosts either, but I do remember as a teenager, after my grandfather died his rocking chair rocked on its own one night while I was lying on the couch. No window open, nothing to explain why it would rock. I like to believe he was there with me…but who knows?
Thank you for the congrats and good luck in the contest!

I have not had any ghostly experiences, but my mother told me that the night before my grandfather died, she had a dream where he said good-bye.Early the next morning, they received the phone call to say that he had died in the night. Life is a mystery, so who knows. Maybe on e day all will be revealed to us. another success for you I am sure, congratulations.

It’s great to see you here, Ann! I couldn’t imagine how your mother must’ve felt waking from that dream and then getting that phone call. Hopefully the dream gave her some closure. Thanks again for the congrats.

I do believe in ghosts. A few days after my mother in law passed away I swear her ghost came to me to tell me everything would be fine. I felt someone grab my foot. I woke up and saw her standing there. To this day I don’t know if it was a dream or if she was really there. I choose to believe it was her.

Hi Sherry. Wow, what an experience! I certainly don’t blame you for believing, I think I would too, especially having your foot touched. Thank you for dropping by and commenting!
