Tracie Ingersoll Loy, SLIP INTO the NIGHT
Meet Tracie Ingersoll Loy author of SLIP INTO the NIGHT, a romantic mystery taking place on Hartz Island in Washington State. Tracie grew up in the State of Washington where she graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Liberal Arts. She currently lives in Northern Illinois with her husband and two dogs, a sassy cock-a-poo and a determined border collie. If she doesn’t walk or run them daily, they nose butt her all day!
TELL US ABOUT SLIP INTO the NIGHT
SLIP INTO the NIGHT is billed as a mystery romance that also includes a woman’s journey. After the murder of her husband, Jeannie Rogers retreats to Hartz Island to rebuild her life. She follows her dream to buy a café, but after three years, Jeannie is at a crossroads. Her brother, a CPA wants her to sell her faltering café. Her daughter Betsy thinks she should date. Neither idea sounds good to Jeannie.Retired Navy SEAL Commander Kip Hendricks has one mission in life and that is to stop terrorism. Kip Hendricks and his team arrive on Hartz Island to monitor ships from Indonesia suspected of smuggling in terrorists. All the ships must pass Hartz Island heading to their ports. When Jeannie heads to Eagle’s Nest Lodge to cater the evening meal, little did she know her life was about to change when she lands in Kip Hendrick’s arms.
WHY DID YOU PICK YOUR CHARACTERS TO BE IN THEIR FORTIES?
I felt there weren’t a lot of romantic stories featuring love, sex and relationships in this age group. I have many girlfriends who are in their forties, single because of divorce, death or just single. Listening to them talk about dating and being in love, I realized their reactions weren’t much different than people in their twenties and thirties. They still experienced the heart-throbbing angst of a teenager. I think it’s great and just because you’re over 35 it doesn’t mean you don’t feel the heat of the moment. Jeannie and Kip are hot for each other, but they both carry wounds and emotional trauma that they must overcome, BUT that doesn’t keep them from wanting to rip their clothes off.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CHARACTER?
I do. I love Jeannie and Kip but I have this soft spot for Montana Worthington, the psychic~healer on the island. She cracks me up. SLIP INTO the NIGHT is Jeannie’s story of overcoming her emotional fears and conquering the business world, but Montana . . . she is an odd duck and does see auras and knows things about people, and in a way she is the heart of the island. The third book in the series, PEER INTO the NIGHT will be Montana’s story.WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON NOW?
DEEP INTO the NIGHT (2013), a sequel that starts exactly where SLIP INTO the NIGHT ends, featuring new characters but still Montana Worthington, the island psychic, Jeannie and her café and the comings and goings of local residents. The third book in the mystery series will feature Montana Worthington and the title is PEER INTO the NIGHT.
WHY E-BOOK?
Like the women of Musa Publishing, I stood back and watched the market shake-out; and it still is. E-books are here to stay, gone are many bookstores. The traditional publishers wouldn’t take a risk on an unknown name who couldn’t be shelved in 1/8 inch space in a specific category. Yes, SLIP INTO the NIGHT is a romance, but it is also Jeannie’s journey of overcoming odds, and it is the mysteries on the island that surface – all the plots are intertwined. I had an agent just come right out and say in today’s market, I couldn’t sell you. So I waited and the market continues to shifts. Then along comes MUSA Publishing formed by a great group of women who have a solid background in publishing. I no longer had to worry about shelf space nor the combination of the stories. So I took my own advice of having to be tweaked a bit, submitted my manuscript. I am the perfect fit for ebook publishing and MUSA Publishing. To find out about the new kid on the block:

WHERE CAN WE PURCHASE SLIP INTO the NIGHT? From my publisher, MUSA Publishing,
Slip Into the Night : Musa Publishing:
and all major e-book publishers; Amazon, Barnes and Noble, ITunes, etc. $4.99
ANY ADVICE TO PEOPLE?
Never give up on your dreams no matter how big or small they are. They are your dreams and that’s all that matters. Sometimes they have to be tweaked a bit, but do not quit. Believe in yourself! When I created Jeannie’s story I wanted women to have faith in their dreams and show them it is okay to follow them, but sometimes you have to step out of the box to make it all work.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your day today.
