Wow Jennifer, You do lead a busy life! What does your work schedule look like and how do you fit your writing in?
Do you do a lot of research for your stories and what is the most interesting thing you have learned?

HI Kim! Thanks for the questions. First off, my work schedule is unorganized, which means I write any moment I can. With two small kids, I grab mornings, lunchtime, Spongebob episodes, and late nights to write. I’ve given up having certain time slots in order to be my more flexible with my family. Nothing like writing a love scene with your boys playing cars around your desk!
As for research, I like to find out the details of the careers my hero and heroine hold, and the setting. Looking at photos of places and trying to gain exact details to bring the reader into the world of my book is key. The most interesting thing I learned? Fact is stranger than fiction! The stories are all out there ready to be sowed, and characters lurk in every corner.

Hi Jen! Here’s my two questions:
What are you working on now?
Besides romance, what’s your favorite genre to read?
September 20th, 2011 at 6:02 am
Hello, Jen!
Is there any one book you remember reading that inspired you to write? Do you find you identify with your heroes or your heroines when you first starting a story?
September 20th, 2011 at 6:09 am
HI Heather! Thanks for visiting. I am currently working on a sexy contemporary series of close friends who are like brothers called The Posse series. The first book is halfway finished entititled Once Again. Here’s a quick blurb:
Chiara Kennedy has survived two years of grief after losing her husband and young son in a car accident. She has decided to live again, but is done with relationships. She seeks a fast, fun night out to thaw the numbness. But when her wild evening takes a wrong turn, she is saved by the only man in the world she has always loathed…and wanted.
Bad boy Sebastian Ryder wants to change. He’s tired of chasing easy women, partying with his posse, and dropping everyone but his dog for the lure of a hot story. He’s been secretly in love with his best friend’s wife for years, so he channeled the emotions into disdain and dislike. After the accident, Ryder distanced himself, but when he comes face to face with her in a bar, and a dangerous situation develops, he steps in to save her. Then gets more than he bargained for…
And for question 2 – I adore horror and suspense novels. Koontz, King, Little. I found some great Indie authors through twitter that I’m now following. I love getting scared!

HI Aimee! Yeah, this is pretty funny. It was Sandra Brown’s old Loveswept book called Breakfast in Bed. I read it one Sunday morning under the covers – I ripped through those romance novels in record time – and I was overcome by the romance and emotion of the book. I cried and realized I must write books that make a woman sigh and clutch it against her chest. Many other books have inspired me along the way but for some reason, I remember that moment the most.
I always identify with my heroes first. I just love my men – the more tortured or bad boy/alpha the better! Thanks so much for visiting!

Hi Jennifer – oh everyone has ask such great questions! Do you forsee yourself writing in a different genre other than contemporary romance?
BTW – loved Tantric Principle. Your hero was the perfect mix of gentle and rough.
September 20th, 2011 at 6:57 am
Hi Liz – thanks so much for stopping by! Contemporary romance is my all time favorite – and will always be my main focus. But I loved writing a children’s book with my niece, Buffy and the Carrot, and we are currently working on a new one called Katie and the Hippo Egg. I would also love to write a book geared more toward the boy’s genre since I hear so much rumbling in the market that there aren’t many options for young boys. Since I have 2 – maybe I will be inspired! And thanks so much for the complement on The Tantric Principle – you have no idea how happy it makes me to hear a reader say that about my hero!

I LoVe you Jennifer!

Hi Jen!
I love you, too!!! (And I agree with Liz, The Tantric Principle was a terrific book!)
My questions:
Do you do a lot of plotting/planning before you start a project?
What has been your experience with self publishing?
September 20th, 2011 at 7:10 am
Awww, I love you too Natalya!!
September 20th, 2011 at 7:15 am
HI Wendy! You know I adore you! Good questions!
I do not do a lot of planning or plotting before I start a project. That ends up getting me in trouble – but it’s like a hot affair I get pulled into too fast – I have to start on the project. Then I struggle with the middle, and have to go back a bit since I realized I know more about the characters than I did in the beginning. I wouldn’t suggest this method though! I am always struck by a character or a situation and build from there. Plot is my weakness so I always struggle making sure there is enough conflict all the way through.
My experience with self publishing has been positive. I feel like it adds to my writing list, and allows me to stretch in other areas I normally wouldn’t be allowed. For instance, when I wrote my short story on the shelter dog, this dog’s voice haunted me for days. I had to write his story, and I loved it but wasn’t sure how I would get it out to the world – there is no particular market niche. I decided to self publish and also give back to the pet shelter with proceeds. I have loved the experience with reader feedback. That being said, my main focus will always be through traditional publishing, but I love the extra option when I want to try something new as a writer.

Great Q&A Jennifer! I think you answered all of my questions already, but I wanted to comment to let you know I’m reading

Who are some of your favorite authors? What books are on your keeper shelf?
September 23rd, 2011 at 7:35 am
HI Rebecca! Sorry this is a late response! Yes, there was a BIG inspiration for my hero but alas, I cannot reveal the details. Let’s just say it was a prior encounter, and as a previous yoga instructor, I was able to obtain all my research – lol!!!

Hi Carol! I have a huge list of favorite authors – isnt’ that a terrible answer? I gear toward contemporary so Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Julie James, Suzanne Brockmann, Nora Roberts, Kristen Hannah, etc. Then I adore erotic romance and read heavily – I love Cherise Sinclair, Rebecca Royce, Shoshanna Evers, Roz Lee, and pretty much all of my fellow Red Sage authors -they all rock it. Ah, too many to list!!
