Rene Lyons stopped by RJ after hours

Hi Cat. Thank you for allowing me to hang out with you guys at the bar. Nice place you got here!

This was about ten years ago. That was my "puppy" - a hundred-and-something pound Japanese Akita who believed I was his mom. His name was Kato and to say I miss him is a massive understatement. My ex-husband took this picture at my parent's house in Pennsylvania. I'm only four feet ten inches short, so, when he jumped up on me, he towered over me. When I would walk him people would be so afraid they'd cross the street to steer clear of us. Little did they know, he was as gentle as he was enormous.

See? I really do leave my lair every now and then. This picture was taken by my husband, Frankie, at the park. He caught us as we were going down the slide. Tell me...isn't that the perfect "action" shot?

I take a lot of pictures of Jesse. A lot. And this day was when I'd put her hair in pig-tails for the first time. I was thrilled she didn't yank the elastics out as I dove for the camera. After taking about a million pictures of her in all of her pig-tailed cuteness, she threw her hands up over her face, stomped her foot, and loudly yelled, "Nae! No more!" No, my daughter doesn't call me "mommy". I guess hearing people call me by name, she just picked up on it. Every now and then she calls me "mom", but for the most part, I'm her "Nae".

There are so few pictures of Jesse and me. I (like most moms) am usually the one holding the camera. Well, one day my husband was home from work and we were about to take Jesse out for the day and actually got a picture of me holding her. As you can see, she was none-too-thrilled about it. What you can't see is that I'd inadvertently dressed us the same. We were both wearing khaki pants and white t-shirts. Cheesy? you bet!

This is me rocking my Tease Publishing shirt. I'd gotten it in the mail the day before and took a picture to show my publisher. About a half an hour later Jesse had broken an angel statue I had on my dresser and sliced open three fingers on her right hand.

We ended up in the doctor - thankfully she didn't need stitches! My shirt got covered in blood. After we got home from the doctor, I had to soak the shirt to get the blood out. Actually, her little fingers are still covered with Elmo band-aides - which she keeps trying to pick off.

So, that's me. That's my life. I'm a homebody and love nothing more than hanging with my family doing a bunch of nothing and having a great time doing it. If you ever find yourself in my part of the world, drop on by - the coffee is always fresh and I always have brownies hidden somewhere in my kitchen!-- Rene Lyons
