Karen Rose Smith stopped by RJ after hours

Cocktail hour at RJ's! What better place to kick back and relax. Thanks, Cat, for having me. Since we're relaxing, I'll tell you something I don't tell just anyone. Sometimes words don't run like a spigot! Usually I write three books a year. (Lullaby For Two, out in March, is my 64th published romance novel.) I use a tape recorder to write. If I get stuck, I revert to long hand...creativity and the computer don't go hand in hand for me. To write to my satisfaction I need to be filled up...or completely empty. Does that make sense? That's why I do a lot of writing at night when my subconscious or instinct takes over. I also use research trips to help me see the world in a new light. The Southwest is my creative touchstone.

I found some pics to share with you. I hope you enjoy them.

I love Christmas. Here I am at a family holiday party celebrating the season.

Did I mention I also love birthdays? Mine is near Christmas and so is my hubby's. Here he had a cake for me and we celebrated with my relatives.

I believe everyone has places of power--where they feel stronger, joyful, more connected to the universe. In the past my favorite power place has been Albuquerque, New Mexico and the surrounding area including Bandelier National Monument. But this year I took a research trip to the Grand Canyon and WOW! I also loved the red rocks in Sedona and definitely would like to return in the future.

I have two cats--Ebbie and London. I rescued Ebbie when she was a
baby and we adopted London six months later. She's Ebbie's half-sister. Ebbie is fascinated by the words scrolling on my computer screen--Create...Challenge...Cherish. But both of them also like Christmas as much as I do!

Here, I'm opening a Christmas present. My son gave me a digital picture frame this year and Ebbie likes watching it as much as I do!

Chief of Police Vince Rossi would do anything for the adorable orphaned baby left in his care. Problem was, the one doctor suitable to help him was Tessa McGuire–his ex-wife. He had spent years trying to forget the only woman he'd ever loved and the tragedy that had torn their lives apart. And as if things weren't complicated enough, Tessa was more alluring than Vince remembered. Watching her hold his infant son brought back memories of the passion they'd shared and the love they'd lost. Could one little baby heal their broken hearts and give them a second chance to become a family. This time, forever?
