Erin Grady stopped by RJ after hours

Hey, Cat, thanks for having me over. I would love an Appletini if the bar's open. It's my new favorite drink. Surprising for me, because I'm pretty much a Corona, lime, with a twist of salt girl. I had a friend tell me once that she'd gone out to dinner with her husband and between the expensive wine and the a la carte meal, the two of them racked up a bill of $600. Six hundred dollars! I almost passed out. She said it was totally worth it. I'm thinking, whatever they were cooking in that kitchen better have been dipped in gold for it to cost that much. I guess I'm more a "park me in a lawn chair with good friends, cold beer and something on the grill" kind of girl than the wine and dine me.

Which is not to say I don't like go out. Last night my husband took me to this little Irish pub that just opened next to a gigantic Barnes & Noble. (Before we even got out of the car, I was liking it. :) So my husband's a big Hispanic man. (And he'd roll his eyes at me for saying that. He'd tell me, "I'm Mexican. Mex-i-can." Emphasis on the can as opposed to the can't, I'm thinking.) Our house can be crazy sometimes, me with my Irish blood and sometimes stubborn disposition, Rick with his hot Latin blood and flash-fire temper.

And would it surprise you to know that our children are just a wee bit obstinate themselves? What can I say? They obviously come by it honestly. My mother says spending time in our house is like being caught in-between two hellacious forces of nature. It's usually exciting, but when she gets home, she appreciates the tranquility. We can't help it. Circumstances alone have us going at the speed of light.

Rick travels all the time which leaves me to juggle a full-time job, one teenager and one pre-teen with busy schedules, the house and my little old writing career. Oh yeah, and my job is making me go to school so I do that too. It's a wonder I'm not ready to be committed. But then Rick comes home and it's all worth it. I've been married eighteen years-and I'm here to tell you they haven't all been good-but the here and now, it's very good.

A crazy photo where I got a little wild and I'm actually dancing on top of a table. Me, wild? Go figure.

A photo of me at Rocky Point. I'd just swiped my husband's cigar and was about to take all his money. :-)

Anyway, Irish Pub, last night. The bar was shoulder to shoulder with happy drinkers-most of them men, which was fine by me-and we drank beer and laughed and had a grand ol' time, all for the bargain price of thirty-five dollars. Divide that into $600 and I don't know what you get-but I think it adds up to a lot more nights out. Ask me, that's a beautiful thing.

So thanks for inviting me over, Cat. This was a lot of fun! Hope you enjoy my pictures. I was having a good time when they were taken. : If you're ever out in the thriving metropolis of Gilbert, Arizona, stop by. Drinks are on me-served poolside of course.

Don't miss her newest release coming from Berkley in April

Whispers by Erin Grady

A haunted hotel... A century old curse...
And a love destined to last forever...

If you listen hard enough…

Diablo Springs—once a boomtown of gamblers, outlaws and miners. Now a place where shifting sands whisper only of torment and loss…a place where shadows lure the unsuspecting into its abyss.

It is where Gracie Beck was raised, but she never called it home. When she left that place, she never looked back…
