Jessica
Andersen stopped by RJ after hours
Hey
Cat, and thanks so much for having me over for a drink! I'm on
the wagon (albeit a pimped-up, turbocharged one), so I'm going
to have a Virgin Sacrifice. That's the official drink of my newest
release, Skykeepers, and is a milkshake with swirls of chocolate
(which was sacred to the Maya) and strawberry sauce (er, for the
sacrifice part, without getting too gory), plus a sprinkle of
chili pepper on top for an unexpected kick. Anyone want to join
me? It's not exactly fat free, but it sure is good! Anyway, as
you can see, I dressed up for the occasion, Photoshop and all.

Here's me
without the effects (and with a truly stunning farmer's tan),
hanging post-cocktails with Barbara Wallace, a longtime friend
who recently sold to Harlequin Romance. Go, Barb! We're both
diehard Red Sox fans, so do me a favor and picture us (in these
dresses, of course, maybe with the addition of baseball caps)
sitting right above the dugout on the first base line at Fenway,
knocking back sodas and dogs, and maybe waving a foam finger.
And there you have it-photographic proof that Jess Andersen
actually does own a dress!

Even
for family functions, I typically dress down. Here's me and Brian
doing the grandparent thing. Definitely no cocktails involved
in this one, though none were really needed. It was my side of
the family, after all. 'Nuff said.

For everyday
stuff, I'm more of a jeans-and-t-shirt kind of girl (and I can
sometimes get my friends to play along, even when they'd rather
be wearing all black- lol). This was taken at a signing in Radcliff
KY, at an awesome bookstore called
well, The Bookstore.
As we were driving there, my partner in crime kept saying, "When
we get opposite the next big field, you'll see this squat, square
building with guard towers. That's Fort Knox!
Okay, not
that field. Next field. Okay not that one, next one." LOL.
We did eventually see Fort Knox, and the signing was a ton of
fun. Oh, and for the record, no, I don't get all the 2012 shirts
made for me-they're from Café Press!

And finally,
I tried my best to scan in a couple of pictures of me as a kid,
crawling around inside a succession of ancient Maya ruins, well
on the way to developing the passion that would eventually become
the Keepers books
but I was defeated by my own technology.
Which is too bad, really, as the pictures include some truly stunning
What Not To Wear moments from the mid-80s. So please accept this
mood shot in lieu, and join me in a Virgin Sacrifice!!

Skykeepers:
Book 3 of the Novels of the Final Prophecy

Ancient prophecy holds that 12/21/2012
will bring a global cataclysm. Mankind's only hope lies
with the Nightkeepers, modern magic-wielding warriors
who must find their destined mates and fulfill the legends
to defeat the rise of terrible Mayan demons.
In Skykeepers, Michael Stone is
a man with a dark secret that has skewed his magical abilities
dangerously toward the underworld. Seeking redemption,
he sets out on a perilous mission to save the daughter
of Ambrose Ledbetter, a renowned Mayanist who died before
he could reveal the location of a hidden library. The
Nightkeepers must find the library before their enemies
gain access to its valuable cache of spells and prophecies.
Sasha Ledbetter grew up hearing
heroic tales of an ancient group of powerful magi who
were destined to save the world from destruction. She
never expected that her bedtime stories would come to
life in the form of Nightkeeper Michael Stone, or that
she'd hold the key to the warrior's survival. As Sasha
and Michael join forces to prevent the imminent battle,
sparks of attraction ignite between them, and they're
forced to confront the unexpected passion that brings
them together
and also tears them apart.
